French and Burt Ltd is a very small company based in the English countryside, 15 kilometres south of Coventry. Its two principal staff are Susan Burt and David French, both of whom previously worked for Coventry University, in David’s case for over 30 years. The company has been active in connection with the training and educational needs of disabled people since its inception in 2001. In addition, they have conducted evaluation audits of teaching and learning, in relation to the needs of disabled students and carried out project evaluation in several UK universities.
The company can draw on extensive experience of managing projects both within the UK and transnationally, including work for HEFCE (the Higher Education Funding Council for England), as well as in the Leonardo da Vinci, Horizon and Socrates programmes. They have tackled ground-breaking work in several areas, notably in the development of mentoring programmes and in the mapping of world-wide resources relevant to the education and training of disabled people. They also have considerable experience of managing the development of validation and quality assurance procedures
Currently French and Burt is a partner in ‘Mentoring Validation’ as well as providing external evaluation services for several other projects in the Leonardo da Vinci programme. The role of French and Burt Ltd in the Qatrain project is as Project Co-ordinator, leading the transnational collaboration, internal evaluation and monitoring and, in particular, supporting processes of cultural adaptation.
